Membership Terms & Conditions

Leikmannasamtök Íslands (Icelandic Players Union)

1. About Membership

Membership in Leikmannasamtök Íslands (“the Union”) provides members with access to selected services, support, educational resources and member-only content offered by the Union.

The purpose of the Union is to support and represent athletes during and after their sporting careers and to strengthen player protection, education and representation within sport.
 

2. Eligibility

Membership is open to:

  • current athletes

  • former athletes

  • football players

  • athletes from other sports

Youth athletes under the age of 18 may register for membership where applicable. Certain services or features may require guardian consent.

The Union reserves the right to approve, reject or terminate memberships where necessary.

3. Membership Benefits

Membership may include access to:

  • legal support

  • contract guidance

  • dispute support

  • player support services

  • financial education platform

  • educational materials and workshops

  • member communication and updates

  • future member services developed by the Union

Membership benefits may evolve over time as the Union develops new services, education and infrastructure.

4. Membership Fees

Membership fees are paid annually.

By purchasing a membership, the member agrees to pay the applicable annual membership fee.

Membership fees are non-refundable once payment has been completed.

Failure to renew membership may result in suspension or removal of access to member services and restricted content.

5. Renewals & Access

Membership access is valid for the active membership period only.

If a membership expires or is not renewed:

  • access to restricted member content may be removed

  • access to member-only tools and services may be limited

  • member status may become inactive

The Union may send reminders regarding upcoming renewals and membership status.

6. Member Responsibilities

Members agree to:

  • provide accurate information

  • keep login credentials secure

  • not share restricted member content or accounts

  • use Union services respectfully and responsibly

  • comply with applicable laws and regulations

The Union reserves the right to suspend or terminate access in cases of misuse, fraud, abuse or harmful conduct.

7. Educational Disclaimer

Educational materials, tools and resources provided by the Union are intended for informational and educational purposes only.

Financial education content does not constitute individualized financial, tax, investment or legal advice.

Members are encouraged to seek independent professional advice where appropriate.

8. Legal & Support Services

The Union may provide guidance, support or referrals relating to contracts, disputes or player matters.

The scope of support may vary depending on:

  • membership status

  • nature of the issue

  • available resources

  • applicable regulations

The Union does not guarantee specific legal outcomes or dispute resolutions.

9. Name, Image & Likeness

Members grant the Union permission to use their name, image and likeness in connection with:

  • Union communication

  • educational initiatives

  • player advocacy

  • workshops and events

  • non-commercial promotional activities related to the Union

The Union will not use member name, image or likeness for unrelated third-party commercial purposes without additional consent where required.

10. Privacy & Data Protection

The Union processes member information in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR where applicable.

Information collected may include:

  • name

  • email address

  • phone number

  • club affiliation

  • sport

  • kennitala

  • membership information

Member information will not be shared externally without consent unless required by law or necessary for operational, legal or accounting obligations.

Anonymized data and statistics may be used internally to improve services, research and member support.

11. Communication

By becoming a member, members may receive:

  • membership updates

  • newsletters

  • workshop invitations

  • educational communication

  • relevant Union announcements

Members may unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time.

12. Changes to Membership Terms

The Union reserves the right to update or amend these Membership Terms & Conditions where necessary.

Updated versions will be published on the Union website.
